Relaxing in the unique Bon Ton Resort and exploring main beach of Langkawi, then enjoying an amazing sunset at the Sheraton.
Bon Ton Resort
I woke up feeling extremely relaxed and spent some time just soaking that in. I noticed a few geckos around the room. Fortunately even without using the mosquito net, I was barely bitten.
I love geckos. They eat up all the annoying mosquitoes.
Extremely curious, I jumped out of bed and went out to explore the property.
It was even more beautiful than I had imagined.
Expecting to be encroached in forest, the pool area opened up to a lagoon with great views of the mountains.
The traditional houses were transported here and reconstructed, then modernized with all the amenities of a 4 star resort.
Then back to my room, I enjoyed the breakfast that was prepared in my fridge.
Amazing breakfast in bed with fresh local fruits.
Best part of the room was the open-air bathroom, which lets you enjoy the warm starlit nights from the comfort and privacy of your room.
After two cups of fresh brewed coffee, I went for a swim and then relaxed by the pool. There’s free wifi throughout the resort but really the signal is only strong enough near the reception.
One of the many lazy cats sleeping on the table. The owners also run an animal shelter (located right in front of the resort) and have the saved animals roam the property. Many of them are extremely fat due to what I guess to be tourists feeding them at all hours of the day.
After working/relaxing a few hours, I ordered a lunch of Malaysian noodles. I realized I had to checkout and went to ask for an extended checkout time. Unfortunately they had someone else booked in my room, so I had to pack up, but they offered to give me another room to stay in for a few hours so I could shower, etc. Wow. Talk about going the extra mile. I didn’t take them up on the kind offer and instead packed up and left my luggage with the hotel. I also found my breakfast tray covered in geckos! I didn’t know they ate breadcrumbs.
Then I took at 15 minute walk to the main beach to see what was happening.

How many poor tourists are sent to the infirmary every day for this present danger?
The area near the beach was much more developed and crowded.

The biggest freakin jellyfish I’ve ever seen is about the size of a car tire.
After a swim and some shopping (picked up new swim trunks). I got a cab back to Bon Ton to pick up my luggage and then go and check in at the Sheraton. With speed tourism, it didn’t feel right to stay at the same hotel for two nights in a row 
An excellent experience at the resort with an amazing degree of personal attention. I would highly recommend staying here as long as you don’t mind (or are allergic to) cats and dogs.
Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort
On check-in I immediately felt the difference in service. The reception asked me three times to produce a print out of my “booking confirmation” even though they had already found my booking in the system. I explained I didn’t have a booking confirmation and finally another receptionist came over and said “oh its an Expedia booking, he doesn’t need a print out.”
Seriously? Was this the 5 star Sheraton resort that I was checking into? I was already regretting leaving Bon Ton.
I requested an upgrade to a sea view room and they were happy to let em know I was upgraded to a forest view room. I asked what view did my previous room have? “No view” was the response. No view… was this a room with no windows? I didn’t care to find out.
They provide buggies to the rooms which was a few minutes walk away.
The room was quite nice with a window from the tub that can have a clear view into the ‘forest’. The balcony outside was a nice addition as well.
Then I was off to explore the property.
The architecture is designed after traditional Malay houses.

The private access area in front of the resort was made up of rocky and sandy beaches.

The walkway along the beach was under construction, but I still went over to have a look. The trees in front of the hotel were full of hornbill birds including some Great Hornbills which are huge. After exploring, I went for a swim in the pool and sea, before relaxing with a drink to take in the sunset.

For dinner I went to the Spice Trader, which was quite expensive and disappointing. They had a small buffet and the food was quite bland. With something in my stomach, I walked back to retire in my room.
